Aloe Vera, also known as Aloe barbadensis miller, is a popular, low-maintenance succulent prized for both its striking appearance and soothing properties. Its thick, fleshy green leaves grow in a rosette form and contain a cooling gel often used for skin care, making it a functional and decorative addition to any indoor plant collection. Aloe Vera is an excellent choice for beginners and thrives in bright, sunny spaces like windowsills, offices, or kitchens.
This hardy succulent prefers bright, indirect to direct sunlight and should be planted in well-draining cactus or succulent soil. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as Aloe Vera is drought-tolerant and sensitive to overwatering. With minimal care, it will maintain its sculptural shape and can produce offsets, or “pups,” that are easy to propagate and share.
Note: Aloe Vera is not pet-safe and can be toxic if ingested, so it should be kept out of reach of pets and small children.
