#3 gallon pot.
Mountain Fire Andromeda is a striking evergreen shrub known for its brilliant, fiery-red new growth that creates a dramatic contrast against its mature, glossy dark green foliage. In early spring, cascading clusters of delicate, white, bell-shaped flowers emerge, adding another beautiful layer of seasonal interest. As the bright red new leaves mature, they gradually transition to green, creating an ever-changing display throughout the growing season. Reaching approximately 4–6 feet tall and 3–5 feet wide, Mountain Fire makes an excellent choice for foundation plantings, woodland gardens, mixed shrub borders, and evergreen landscape accents.
This beautiful, low-maintenance flowering shrub thrives in partial shade and prefers acidic, moist, well-draining soil. Its early spring blooms attract pollinators, while its colorful new growth and evergreen foliage provide year-round landscape interest. Mountain Fire is especially valued for its vibrant spring foliage, making it an eye-catching addition to shaded and partially shaded New England gardens.
Maintenance: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a healthy root system, keeping the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and protect the shallow roots, keeping mulch away from the stems. Fertilize in early spring with a fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants if needed. Minimal pruning is required, but light shaping can be done immediately after flowering to maintain its natural form. Protect from harsh winter winds and excessive afternoon sun to help prevent leaf damage.
