#3 gallon pot.
Fire Chief™ Arborvitae is a colorful, compact evergreen shrub known for its soft, feathery foliage and naturally rounded growth habit. Its bright golden-green spring and summer foliage develops beautiful shades of orange, copper, and reddish bronze during the cooler months, creating a striking display of seasonal color. Reaching approximately 2–4 feet tall and wide, Fire Chief™ is an excellent choice for foundation plantings, mixed shrub borders, garden accents, and low-growing evergreen groupings.
This hardy, slow-growing arborvitae thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-draining soil. Its naturally rounded shape requires very little trimming, while its colorful foliage provides year-round texture and interest. Fire Chief™ is especially attractive when planted alongside dark green evergreens or flowering shrubs, making it a versatile addition to New England landscapes.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish healthy roots, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Once established, provide additional watering during extended dry periods and before the ground freezes in late fall. Apply mulch around the base to conserve moisture and protect roots, keeping it away from the stems. Little pruning is needed, but light shaping can be done in spring if desired. Avoid cutting into older, bare wood to maintain healthy foliage.
