Columbine Little Lantern

Columbine ‘Little Lanterns’ is a charming compact perennial known for its unique nodding blooms in warm shades of red and yellow. The lantern-like flowers rise above soft, ferny foliage in spring and early summer, bringing delicate texture and vibrant color to garden beds, borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator plantings. Its compact size makes it especially well-suited for smaller spaces, edging, and container gardens.

Loved by hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, this columbine variety adds movement and cottage-garden charm while thriving in cooler spring conditions. Its airy flowers and soft foliage blend beautifully with other shade-tolerant and woodland perennials.

Maintenance: Plant in full sun to partial shade with rich, well-drained soil. Water regularly during the first 1–2 weeks after planting to establish roots, then maintain moderate moisture during the growing season. Remove spent blooms to encourage continued flowering and maintain a tidy appearance. Columbine may self-seed lightly in favorable conditions if flower heads are left in place.
