Cypress Shrubs Wells Special

Wells Special Hinoki Cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Wells Special') is an elegant evergreen known for its dense, deep emerald-green foliage and soft, fan-shaped branches that provide beautiful year-round texture. Its naturally narrow, upright growth habit creates a graceful, columnar appearance, making it an excellent choice for adding height and structure to the landscape. Growing approximately 13–17 feet tall and 5–9 feet wide, it provides attractive evergreen coverage without taking up excessive horizontal space.

Thriving in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil, it is generally low maintenance once established. Ideal for privacy screening, hedges, specimen plantings, and landscape accents.

Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment and during prolonged dry periods. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring only if needed to maintain its natural shape, avoiding cuts into old wood. Apply mulch to retain soil moisture and protect roots, and fertilize in spring if needed.
