Grape Vines

Grape vines (Vitis) are vigorous, productive climbing plants valued for their sweet fruit, ornamental foliage, and strong vertical growth habit. In spring, they produce clusters of small green flowers that develop into edible grapes by late summer to early fall. Their large, lobed leaves create dense coverage, making them ideal for trellises, arbors, pergolas, and edible landscapes.

These fruiting, fast growing, and climbing plants thrive in full sun and prefer well-draining soil with moderate moisture. Once established, they are generally low maintenance, drought tolerant, and highly productive outdoor plants. Grapevines also support pollinators during bloom and add seasonal shade and structure to garden spaces.

Maintenance Tip:
Prune heavily in late winter while the plant is dormant to control size and maximize fruit production. Train main canes along a support system and remove excess summer growth for airflow. Fertilize in early spring and ensure good sun exposure to improve fruit quality and yield.
