Reliance Seedless Grape is a hardy, productive grapevine known for its clusters of sweet, seedless pinkish-red grapes with a tender texture and excellent flavor. The fruit typically ripens in late summer and is especially well suited for fresh eating, making it a great choice for home edible gardens. Its vigorous climbing growth and large green leaves also provide attractive seasonal coverage for trellises, arbors, fences, and pergolas.
This cold-hardy grapevine thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, making it well suited to New England gardens. Reliance is self-pollinating, so a second grapevine is not required for fruit production. Provide a strong support structure as the vine grows and plenty of sunlight to encourage healthy growth, good ripening, and productive harvests.
Maintenance: Prune annually in late winter while the vine is dormant, removing much of the previous season’s growth to encourage healthy new growth and good fruit production. Train the main vine along a sturdy trellis, arbor, or other support and thin excessive growth as needed to improve sunlight and airflow. Water regularly during the first growing season and during extended dry periods, especially while fruit is developing. Mulch around the root zone while keeping mulch away from the base of the vine, and fertilize lightly in spring if needed.
