Henry Blue Aster is a beautiful fall-blooming perennial covered in masses of rich blue-purple, daisy-like flowers with bright golden centers. Blooming in late summer into fall, asters provide a welcome burst of color just as many summer flowers begin to fade. Their dense blooms make them an excellent addition to fall porch displays, patio containers, garden beds, and seasonal mixed plantings.
Asters are also an important late-season food source for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, making them a beautiful alternative or companion to traditional fall mums. Pair Henry Blue Aster with ornamental grasses, mums, pumpkins, cabbage, and kale for a colorful New England autumn display.
Maintenance: Place in full sun to partial sun for best flowering. Water regularly to keep the soil moderately moist, especially while plants are blooming or growing in containers. Avoid allowing the plant to completely dry out for extended periods. Deadhead faded flowers as desired to maintain a tidy appearance. If planted in the landscape, cut back old growth after dormancy or in early spring before fresh growth emerges.
