Shadowland® ‘Hope Springs Eternal’ Hosta is a beautiful, ruffled perennial featuring heart-shaped blue-green leaves surrounded by crisp, creamy-white margins. Its softly rippled foliage creates a full, textured appearance that brightens shady garden spaces and provides season-long interest. Growing approximately 20–22 inches tall and 45–48 inches wide, it develops into an impressive, broad mound that works beautifully as a specimen, in mixed shade gardens, or planted in groups along borders and woodland edges.
Near-white flowers rise above the foliage, adding another layer of interest and attracting pollinators when in bloom. The combination of cool blue foliage and bright cream edging makes ‘Hope Springs Eternal’ especially useful for adding contrast to darker areas of the landscape. Like other hostas, it is a dependable perennial that returns year after year and pairs beautifully with ferns, heuchera, astilbe, and other shade-loving plants.
Maintenance: Plant in partial shade to full shade in rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system, and provide additional water during hot or dry periods. A layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture and keep the roots cool. Remove spent flower stalks after blooming if desired, and cut back old foliage after it dies back in late fall or clean it away in early spring before new growth emerges.
