#2 gallon pot.
Strawberry Sundae Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Rensun') is a beautiful, compact deciduous flowering shrub known for its large, cone-shaped flower clusters that emerge creamy white before gradually developing shades of soft pink and rich strawberry-red. Blooming from midsummer into fall, its colorful flowers create a stunning, layered appearance as they mature, often displaying multiple shades at once. Its strong, upright stems and lush green foliage provide attractive structure throughout the growing season. Growing approximately 4–5 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide, it offers the beauty of larger panicle hydrangeas in a more manageable size.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil, it is cold hardy, low maintenance, and beginner-friendly. Ideal for foundation plantings, mixed borders, flowering hedges, specimen plantings, and cut flower gardens.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment, then deeply during extended dry periods. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins to maintain shape and encourage strong branching and abundant blooms. Remove damaged stems as needed, apply mulch to retain soil moisture, and fertilize lightly in spring if needed.
