Gold Cone Juniper (Juniperus communis 'Gold Cone') is a striking, slow-growing evergreen shrub known for its brilliant golden-yellow foliage and naturally narrow, upright growth habit. Its dense, columnar form provides beautiful year-round structure, while bright golden new growth in spring adds vibrant contrast against darker evergreens. Growing approximately 6–7 feet tall and 2–3 feet wide, it creates an elegant vertical accent without requiring much horizontal space.
Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, it is drought tolerant once established, cold hardy, and low maintenance. Ideal for foundation plantings, entryways, mixed borders, specimen plantings, and smaller landscapes.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment, then during prolonged dry periods. Prune lightly in early spring if needed to maintain its narrow shape, avoiding cuts into old wood. Ensure well-draining soil, apply mulch to retain moisture, and fertilize lightly in spring if needed.
