#3 gallon pot.
Declaration Lilac (Syringa × hyacinthiflora 'Declaration') is a stunning, early-blooming deciduous shrub prized for its large, fragrant clusters of rich reddish-purple flowers that appear in early to mid-spring. Its vibrant blooms create a bold display against fresh green foliage, often flowering earlier than traditional common lilacs. Its naturally upright, open growth habit provides beautiful height and structure in the landscape. Growing approximately 8–9 feet tall and 6–7 feet wide, it makes an impressive spring focal point.
Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, it is cold hardy, fragrant, low maintenance, and highly pollinator-friendly. Ideal for flowering hedges, mixed borders, specimen plantings, and cottage-style gardens.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment, then during prolonged dry periods. Prune immediately after flowering to maintain shape and encourage healthy growth, as next year's flower buds develop during the growing season. Remove spent blooms and older stems as needed, and fertilize lightly in early spring if needed.
