Maypop Passionflower

Maypop Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is a vigorous native perennial vine known for its exotic, intricate blooms and fast-growing, climbing habit. Its unique lavender to light purple flowers feature a striking fringe of filaments and a complex floral structure that creates a tropical look in temperate gardens. Blooming from mid-summer into early fall, the flowers are followed by round, edible fruits known as “maypops,” which attract wildlife and add seasonal interest.

This hardy passionflower is valued for its rapid growth, pollinator appeal, and ability to quickly cover trellises, fences, and arbors. Its lush green foliage and unusual blooms make it a standout choice for naturalized plantings and wildlife-friendly gardens.
