#3 gallon pot.
Summer Wine Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius 'Seward') is a beautiful, fast-growing deciduous shrub known for its rich burgundy-purple foliage and clusters of soft pinkish-white flowers that appear in late spring to early summer. Its graceful, arching branches create an elegant, flowing appearance, while its dark foliage provides striking contrast throughout the growing season. Attractive peeling bark adds texture and winter interest. Growing approximately 5–8 feet tall and wide, it creates a bold focal point in the landscape.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil, it is drought tolerant once established, low maintenance, and pollinator-friendly. Ideal for mixed borders, hedges, privacy plantings, and specimen plantings.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment, then during prolonged dry periods. Prune lightly immediately after flowering if needed to maintain shape, preserving its naturally graceful, arching branches. Remove older or damaged stems as needed, and apply mulch to retain soil moisture.
