#3 gallon pot.
Tiny Wine Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) is a compact, deciduous shrub prized for its deep bronze-maroon foliage and abundant clusters of delicate pinkish-white flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer. Its small, finely textured leaves and dense, upright growth habit create a beautiful contrast of color and texture, while its peeling bark provides additional winter interest. Growing approximately 3–5 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide, it offers the beauty of traditional ninebark in a smaller, more manageable size.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil, it is drought tolerant once established, low maintenance, and pollinator-friendly. Ideal for foundation plantings, mixed borders, containers, and smaller landscapes.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly after planting until established, then during extended dry periods. Prune lightly immediately after flowering if needed to maintain shape, as its naturally compact form requires little trimming. Remove damaged or older stems as needed, and apply mulch to retain moisture.
