#3 gallon pot.
Towhead Rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Towhead') is a compact, early-blooming evergreen shrub known for its beautiful clusters of soft, creamy-yellow flowers that appear in mid to late spring. Its small, glossy green foliage develops attractive bronze tones during colder months, providing additional seasonal interest. Growing approximately 2–3 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide, it forms a dense, low-growing mound that adds delicate color and year-round structure to smaller landscapes.
Thriving in partial shade and moist, acidic, well-draining soil, it is cold hardy, low maintenance once established, and pollinator-friendly. Ideal for foundation plantings, woodland gardens, mixed borders, and smaller garden spaces.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment and keep soil consistently moist, especially during extended dry periods. Prune lightly immediately after flowering if needed to maintain its naturally compact shape. Apply mulch to retain soil moisture and protect shallow roots, and fertilize with an acid-loving fertilizer in early spring if needed.
