#2 gallon pot.
Pineapple Poprocks® Spirea (Spiraea japonica ‘Golden Select’) is a bright, colorful flowering shrub known for its vibrant lemon-yellow foliage and beautiful clusters of pink flowers. Its cheerful golden leaves provide eye-catching color throughout spring and summer, while clusters of vivid pink to pink-purple flowers appear in summer, creating a striking contrast against the foliage. As fall approaches, the leaves develop brilliant reddish tones for an additional burst of seasonal color. Its naturally rounded, compact growth habit makes it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, garden borders, walkways, and mass plantings.
Thriving in full sun, Pineapple Poprocks® is a hardy, low-maintenance shrub that prefers moist, well-draining soil and becomes moderately drought tolerant once established. Reaching approximately 2–3 feet tall and wide, it fits beautifully into smaller landscapes while providing plenty of seasonal interest. Its colorful foliage and pollinator-friendly flowers make it a wonderful addition to New England gardens.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during the first growing season to encourage strong root development, then provide additional moisture during extended dry periods. Apply mulch around the base to conserve moisture and protect roots, keeping it away from the stems. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain its naturally rounded shape and encourage healthy new growth. Remove faded flowers or lightly trim after blooming if desired to encourage a tidier appearance and possible reblooming. Fertilize lightly in spring if needed.
