Poprocks® Petite Spirea (Spiraea japonica ‘Odessa’) is a charming, compact flowering shrub known for its abundant candy-pink flowers and rich green foliage. In late spring to early summer, clusters of bright pink, button-like flowers cover the shrub, creating a beautiful display that attracts bees and butterflies. Its naturally dense, rounded growth habit gives it a neat appearance without frequent trimming, making it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, garden borders, walkway edges, decorative containers, and mass plantings.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Poprocks® Petite is a hardy, low-maintenance shrub that prefers moist, well-draining soil and becomes moderately drought tolerant once established. Reaching approximately 2–3 feet tall and wide, it is especially well suited for smaller gardens and landscapes where space is limited. Its cheerful flowers, compact size, and easy-care nature make it a reliable choice for adding seasonal color to New England gardens.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish healthy roots, then provide additional moisture during extended dry periods. Apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and reduce weeds, keeping it away from the stems. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain its compact, rounded shape. Light trimming after the first flush of flowers can help encourage fresh growth and additional blooms. Fertilize lightly in spring if needed.
