#3 gallon pot.
Spice Baby Viburnum (Viburnum carlesii) is a beautiful, compact deciduous shrub known for its highly fragrant clusters of soft pink flower buds that open into creamy white, snowball-shaped blossoms in spring. Its richly scented flowers bring the classic spicy-sweet fragrance of Korean Spice Viburnum to smaller landscapes, while its softly textured, deeply veined green foliage develops stunning shades of burgundy and red in fall. Growing approximately 3.5–5 feet tall and wide, it forms a dense, naturally rounded shrub with beautiful seasonal appeal.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil, it is cold hardy, low maintenance, deer resistant, and highly pollinator-friendly. Ideal for foundation plantings, mixed borders, flowering hedges, and gardens near patios or entryways where its wonderful fragrance can be appreciated.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment, then during extended dry periods. Prune lightly immediately after flowering only if needed to maintain shape, as excessive pruning can reduce the following spring's blooms. Apply mulch to retain soil moisture and protect roots, and fertilize lightly in early spring if needed. Plant near another compatible Korean Spice Viburnum variety, such as Spice Girl, if berry production is desired.
