#3 gallon pot.
Summer Snowflake Viburnum (Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Summer Snowflake') is a beautiful, deciduous flowering shrub known for its abundant clusters of delicate, lacecap-style white flowers that appear in late spring and continue intermittently throughout summer. Its gracefully layered, horizontal branches create an elegant, spreading appearance, while its deeply veined green foliage develops attractive reddish-purple tones in fall. Growing approximately 5–8 feet tall and 8–10 feet wide over time, it provides stunning seasonal color and texture.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil, it is low maintenance and pollinator-friendly. Ideal for mixed borders, foundation plantings with adequate space, specimen plantings, and woodland gardens.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment, then during extended dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture. Prune lightly immediately after the main spring flowering period if needed to maintain its naturally layered shape, avoiding heavy pruning that may reduce later blooms. Apply mulch to retain moisture and protect roots, and fertilize lightly in early spring if needed.
