#3 gallon pot.
Lil' Kim Violet Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) is a beautiful dwarf deciduous flowering shrub known for its vibrant plum-violet flowers accented by striking deep red centers. Its large, tropical-looking blossoms appear throughout summer, creating a stunning contrast against glossy, dark green foliage. Its naturally compact, upright growth habit provides attractive color and structure without requiring much space. Growing approximately 3–4 feet tall and wide, it makes a colorful addition to smaller landscapes.
Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, it is heat tolerant, drought tolerant once established, deer resistant, low maintenance, and pollinator-friendly, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. Ideal for foundation plantings, mixed borders, containers, and smaller sunny gardens.
Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during establishment, then during extended dry periods. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring if needed to maintain its naturally compact shape and encourage abundant flowering on new growth. Apply mulch to retain soil moisture, remove damaged branches as necessary, and fertilize lightly in spring if needed.
